Portugal will see a leap in air service from the U.S in July and August following its reopening to U.S. tourists on June 15.
According to Cirium flight schedule data, airlines have scheduled 254 U.S-Portugal operations in August compared with 137 this month.
United will re-enter the market in July with daily Newark-Lisbon service, and Delta will offer daily New York JFK-Lisbon flights beginning in August. Meanwhile, TAP Air Portugal and Azores Airlines will increase frequencies on existing routes.

TAP, the largest player in the market, is already flying to Lisbon from Newark, Miami, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, Chicago O’Hare and Boston as well as to Porto from Newark.
The carrier will increase service on each of those routes in July and August, including going to twice-daily service on Newark-Lisbon.
TAP has already reopened all of its pre-pandemic U.S. gateways, other than New York JFK.
Azores is flying Boston-Ponta Delgada and Boston-Terceira Island this month and will bump service to Ponta Delgada in July to six-times weekly from its current four times per week.
All told, however, airlines will still be offering a bit fewer than half the seats to Portugal this August than they did in August 2019, according to Cirium.
American is slated to be the one carrier not to have re-entered the market. American flew to Lisbon from its hub in Philadelphia during the summer of 2019.
U.S. visitors to Portugal must show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours before boarding or proof of a negative rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours before boarding.
