New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is gonna make a brand-new start of it, announcing plans for a $63 million room remodel project that got underway this month.

When the project is completed next summer, all 1,830 rooms and 155 suites will feature vibrant new designs and upgraded in-room amenities.

The rooms will have exposed faux brick walls and accent colors, such as Big Apple red and taxicab yellow to reflect the aesthetic and vibrancy of New York City, hotel officials said. Rooms will have conveniences such as moveable work surfaces, more USB/USB-C power outlets and additional shelving and closet space.

Hospitality design firm HVS Design partnered with MGM Resorts International Design Group on the project for the hotel-casino, which opened in 1997.

“As we envisioned our design for this project, we incorporated that New York City vibe and twisted it with bold colors and pops of energy to blend with Las Vegas, stressing functionality as a key factor,” said Christine Shanahan, principal at HVS Design. “Guests will experience the feel of a loft apartment with convenient touchpoints and amenities designed to make them feel right at home.”

The first remodeled collection of standard and premier rooms will be available for guest stays in late October. More enhancements will be announced in the coming months.

“It’s an exciting time at New York-New York, said Michael Neubecker, the resort’s president and COO, who noted the opening of Cirque du Soleil’s “Mad Apple” earlier this year. “To embark on a remodel of our rooms and suites is the next step in keeping the resort fresh and giving guests new reasons to visit.”
