Belnem House Bonaire, a new, sustainably minded boutique hotel on the island, will open in early 2023.
Located near the center of Kralendijk, in the villa district of Belnem, the resort has 31 luxury suites, apartments and penthouses that surround a courtyard garden with a pool and pool bar.
“Belnem House Bonaire’s main focus is to be self-sustainable and environmentally conscious about the way we operate,” said operations manager Britt Thomassen.
The property is fully powered by solar panels that run the property during the day and generate electricity to fuel batteries that run the resort at night. The resort also utilizes solar-powered, hot-water heaters, and any water from air conditioner condensation is used to water the grounds. The resort claims ecofriendliness by only using biodegradable products and ecofriendly chemicals, such as the use of a magnesium pool.
The resort will also team up with neighboring PADI dive center Wannadive to offer diving opportunities to areas including the Bonaire National Marine Park, one of the oldest marine reserves in the world.
According to its website, the resort will open April 22. Prices range from $110 to $260 per night, depending on the season. The resort is commissionable for travel specialists on a case-by-case basis.
