Le Relais Bernard Loiseau, a five-star Relais & Chateaux hotel located in Burgundy, France, completed the first stage of a renovation project, its first such project in 30 years.
Overseen by architect Arnaud Behzadi, the multistage redesign of the historic property will take place in phases through 2023, the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of Michelin-starred chef Bernard Loiseau.
In June, Le Relais Bernard Loiseau unveiled full redesigns of three rooms, two of which have been reimagined as cocoon suites, which feature enclosed beds inspired by birds’ nests.
The second stage of the project will be completed in March, including updates to the lobby, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant La Cote d’Or and the gastronomic kitchen. By the end of 2023, the renovations are expected to be complete with upgrades made to all the rooms.
The property dates from 1875 and has hosted such famous guests as Orson Welles, Edith Piaf, Charlie Chaplin and Salvador Dali.
The Cote d’Or restaurant features a wine cellar with some 15,000 bottles, and the 16,000-square-foot spa, La Villa Loiseau des Sens, is located in a new structure built next to the hotel’s gardens.
