Crystal has sold the Crystal Esprit, saying that the small-yacht concept does not fit into its future plans.
“Crystal Esprit has been a wonderful part of the Crystal fleet, offering a boutique yachting experience unmatched in the industry, earning the devotion of discerning travelers and winning awards since her debut in 2015,” Crystal said in a statement. “However, as we have been evaluating our focus post-pandemic, the single, small-yacht concept does not fit into future plans for the company as we continue to concentrate on the successful deployment of our Crystal ocean, river and expedition fleets, as well as exploring newbuilds for expansion.”
The company did not disclose who bought the ship or the purchase price.
Crystal launched the 62-passenger Crystal Esprit in 2015, shortly after being acquired by Genting. The yacht had been operating for Genting’s Star Cruises brand and was fully refurbished and renamed before joining the Crystal fleet.
The vessel sailed warm-water itineraries such as the Seychelles, the Adriatic coast and the Caribbean.
Crystal said it is notifying all affected guests and travel partners about the sale and that booked guests will be offered a full refund or future cruise credits equal to 115% of the cruise fare paid on fully paid reservations. The credits can be used for any ocean, river or expedition cruise.
