TravelPulse Q&A: One on One with AIC Hotel Group

AIC Hotel Group introduced the world to the all-inclusive version of Hard Rock Hotels in addition to Hard Rock golf courses. Today, the AIC portfolio of all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotels across Mexico and the Dominican Republic is complemented by two Nobu Hotels and the UNICO 20 87 Hotel Riviera Maya.

TravelPulse recently spoke with AIC Hotel Group’s Director of Field Sales, Carilis Felipe, who provided us with an overview of key sale points that travel professionals should know.

TravelPulse: What’s new this year at AIC Hotel Group?

Carilis Felipe: Recently we announced the official opening of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos. This opening is very important to us and the Nobu brand in general because it is the first Nobu Hotel in Mexico. The 200-room property seamlessly blends contemporary Japanese minimalism with locally sourced natural, Mexican materials and finishes.

The hotel also boasts an array of facilities including event and meeting space, a luxurious spa, retail stores, a variety of unique dining and lounging experiences and much more.

As an added bonus, travel agents receive an extra 5 percent commission for Nobu Hotel bookings.

TP: Who is the typical guest staying at your properties?

CF: What is unique about the hotels in our portfolio is that they don’t cater to just one age group or type of person, they cater to everyone!

At our all-inclusive Hard Rock properties in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, you’ll find people of all ages, whether it’s a multigenerational family, couple or group of friends. There are plenty of activities day and night for anyone to enjoy.

UNICO 20 87 Hotel Riviera Maya, our adults-only all-inclusive, immerses guests in the culture of the region, from the locally-inspired cocktails to the art pieces throughout the hotel and in the rooms. The guest that is looking for relaxed luxury would truly enjoy this property.

The Nobu Hotel concept brings a one-of-a-kind experience to Miami Beach and Los Cabos by delivering the perfect balance that merges each location’s culture with an intuitive interpretation of Chef Nobu’s signature style.

The dining experience at Nobu Restaurant is not to be missed as it offers a multi-sensory culinary experience featuring Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s traditional Japanese dishes fused with Latin American influences. TP: How are the hotels in AIC’s portfolio uniquely experiential?

CF: At Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, guests of all ages can enjoy Woodward. The facility sets an entirely new standard of the all-inclusive experience, allowing guests to participate in a variety of revolutionary action sports programs such as skateboarding, BMX, scooter, parkour, gymnastics, tumbling, cheer and dance, in addition to indoor dry land snowboarding and skiing with ParkBoard and ParkSki training equipment, trampolines, foam pit and a spring floor.

UNICO 20 87 offers an array of Signature Tours that have been exclusively designed for our guests with specially added details and amenities to supplement the adventure.

TP: How does the company work with retail travel agents?

CF: We have 7 Regional Directors of Business Development and 10 Business Development Managers in the U.S. and Canada who are working with agencies to grow their business using marketing strategies, co-op, sales calls, trainings, client consultations, etc.

We also have a few travel agent incentive programs.

With Amplified Rewards, agents earn additional commission from $25 to $500, based on the room category and length of stay. Agents register their booking into from the time of booking up until 14 days after check-in to earn this payment.

The bookings registered will count towards the agents’ Amped Level. Agents will earn additional perks based on their amped levels such as client upgrades, payments on groups over 25 rooms, special marketing tools, invitations to special events and much more.

RNR is a program where travel agents earn one complimentary night for every reservation made at an AIC Hotel Group property. These programs apply to all AIC Hotels.
