Not part of my tour, but nonetheless a popular dining venue, was Mott 32 at the Trump International Hotel & Tower Vancouver, which hosted my stay as well as dinner at the restaurant. Despite its New York Chinatown-inspired name, it’s the only North American location for this contemporary, high-end Chinese venue, whose first location is in Hong Kong. (Locations in Bangkok and Las Vegas have been announced.) Flagship menu items include the Peking duck (must be ordered a day in advance) and whole roast suckling pig (two days in advance).
The 147-room Trump Vancouver opened last year in a mixed-use tower that also contains 217 apartment units. It’s near a number of high-end shopping venues as well as the city’s convention center (about a 15-minute walk or five-minute drive).
I was impressed with the property’s 5,000-square-foot spa; my treatment room featured its own changing area with locker, vanity and shower, and my therapist was attentive and accommodating with regard to room temperature, massage pressure and even the volume of the background music.
The Trump Vancouver’s 5,500-square-foot grand ballroom is available for weddings. A Romance Package, available through the property’s website starting at about $350 per night, includes breakfast in bed, a bottle of sparkling wine and a dozen roses.
Through the end of the year, nightly rates start at about $195. See www.trumphotels.com/vancouver.
