1 Hotel Austin will be a component of new tower: Travel Weekly

A new tower in Texas’ capital city will be the home of the 1 Hotel Austin.

In a news release, luxury lifestyle brand 1 Hotels said the building will be the tallest in Texas and have residential and retail components. The tower is under construction at the junction of Waller Creek and Lady Bird Lake.

A 2026 opening of the hotel is expected, said 1 Hotels.

“When we open our doors, our guests will immerse themselves in the energetic attractions of the Austin creative community while simultaneously serving a restorative relationship to the Hill Country’s natural beauty,” said 1 Hotels founder Barry Sternlicht.

1 Hotels said the hotel will feature native stone, trees, shrubs, plants and reclaimed wooden surfaces that evoke “traditional Texas river houses and the simplicity and sensibility of modern Hill Country ranches.”

Guestrooms will be “Texas-tough, modern-chic,” 1 Hotels described. Furnishings will “integrate cowboy craftsmanship with the sophisticated tone and tenor of a tech-savvy city.”

There will be a lagoon-like pool perched on the 16th floor of the tapering tower. It will be shrouded in vine-covered walls and rough wooden trellises, and offer panoramic views of Austin and the Waller Creek greenway.

1 Hotels said the building will “directly abut a newly connected multi-mile chain of parks, bike trails and pedestrian paths designed by urban planners to reveal and restore the creek’s natural ecology.”

Lincoln Property Company and Kairoi Residential are developing the property.
