You can currently snap up cheap flights to Barbados from £245

The cold weather has well and truly heralded the arrival of winter and the festive season.

But, not every Brit is willing to get stuck into winter with their fluffy jumper and socks on.

Luckily for those seeking sunshine and warm winter days Aer Lingus is running planes from the UK to the Caribbean three times a week – and there are fares from just £245 each way.

You can snap up a ticket from Manchester to Barbados on the airline’s new route for a bargain, with flights running three times a week from November 2 to April 30.

Flights can be found running on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday so you can choose when works best for your holiday.

There’s plenty to get stuck into in gorgeous Barbados too.

You can head to Bridgetown – the island’s capital – and explore its rich history.

The George Washington House and the Barbados Museum will give you a fun insight into the country’s past.

Those who prefer to relax and unwind should seek out Rockley Beach or Carlisle Bay – these hotspots are filled with white sand and glittering turquoise waters.

Music fans can journey to the Rihanna Drive monument where two lines of brightly painted houses surround the childhood home of icon Rihanna Fenty.

There are rum shops at the end of the road where you can also sip on a delicious Barbadian rum cocktail.

Plus, don't forget about the rich food culture you'll enjoy while in Barbados.

Head to Cuz’s Fish Stand for fresh seafood sandwiches and 'cutters' often named the best on the island.

Or, go a little more upmarket at Lobster Alive where they serve up a catch of the day and lobster done in a number of ways.

There’s even a jazz band to fill your ears with music while you stuff yourself silly.
