A luxury cruise operator has announced plans to build a pair of expedition ships for the world’s wealthiest sailors, which will be capable of traveling to remote corners of the earth.
Seabourn has released details on their latest project, which will bring “ultra-luxury purpose-built expedition ships” to the marketplace.
Built with the hardware and technology necessary for sailing to some of the most hostile environments like the Arctic and Antarctic, the ships will bring luxury travel to a traditionally no-frills experience.
Designs include improved accessibility to onboard Zodiacs so that guests will be able to move quickly to view wildlife or go ashore.
Plans also call for 2,750 square meters of open deck space to offer sweeping unobstructed views of rugged mountains, glaciers and greenery.
The first ship is scheduled to sail in the Arctic in late summer 2021. The second delivery is set for May 2022.
Each ship will feature 132 oceanfront veranda suites and carry a complement of kayaks and 24 Zodiacs.
In 2016, Crystal Cruises deployed the Crystal Serenity beyond the Arctic Circle and through the fabled Northwest Passage, making it the largest luxury cruise liner to sail the mystical route.
