Travelodge is one of the UK’s largest hotel chains and shared the 25 most bizarre guest requests. The hotel company said that one guest even had a surprising royal-related demand.

A guest staying at the Bath Waterside Travelodge had a unique Meghan Markle themed request.

They asked: “Can you arrange for me to wear Meghan Markle’s Giorgio Armani dress from the fashion museum for my 40th birthday party?”

But that wasn’t the only royal related conundrum Travelodge staff had to deal with over the year.

A guest at Canterbury Chaucer Central Travelodge wanted to know if “King Charles teaches at The Kings School”.

A guest staying at the hotel brand’s London Central Waterloo Travelodge wanted a special Paddington themed treat.

They asked: “Can you arrange a surprise garden afternoon tea for my grandfather with Paddington Bear?”

Sadly, Paddington was otherwise engaged but a guest in Carlisle had a slightly more sinister request.

They said: “Can you arrange for my husband to be imprisoned in Carlisle Castle? He is annoying me.”

She might be a fictional character but that didn’t stop a guest in Hull asking for Aunt Bessie to give them a cooking lesson.

The guest wanted the face of the Yorkshire Pudding brand to give their wife a cooking lesson.

One outlandish request involved a guest asking for staff to fill their bath with scoops of different ice-cream.

A particularly demanding guest even wanted to be given an extra room to use as a closet for all their clothes.

A fan of Harry and Sandra Rednapp wanted to know if staff at the Bournemouth Travelodge could sort out a double date.

Shakila Ahmed, a Travelodge spokesperson, said: “Following a very difficult two years, Britons have taken full advantage this year to enjoy everything that they have missed during the pandemic and this included holidays and business trips.

“We have experienced a significant increase in bookings across our 581 UK Travelodge hotels this year, with Britons taking more short breaks and turning a concert or sporting event into a minication.

“Also with more Britons holidaying on British shores than ever before our hotel teams have also received a high volume of interesting requests and questions especially around attractions, locations, local dishes, customs and traditions across our diverse British regions.

“Where possible, our hotel teams will go above and beyond to help customers as they relish a good challenge.

“However, there are some requests beyond their control such as getting ordained to officiate a wedding, getting the London Eye to rotate in an anti-clockwise formation, programming all the traffic lights in York to be green at midday for a bride to get to the church on time and taking a customer for a spin in the Red Bull Formula One racing car around Milton Keynes famous roundabouts.”

Guests might need to lower their expectations a little as even the most dedicated hotel staff can’t control the traffic or the London Eye.
