Travel expert says you should always turn left at airport security

When at the airport there are plenty of things that can go wrong, from flight delays to long queues.

For example, this week's unexpected snow saw planes grounded at airports around the country from Manchester to London.

But, hopefully as the skies clear those heading for some winter sun or a trip to Lapland will be back on their way.

When flights do resume you may be worried about making it through security – arguably one of the most stressful parts of the airport!

Queues can get pretty long at airport security as people fumble for their liquids and electronics.

Soon, that won’t be an issue any more as the 100ml liquids won’t need to be out of your bag by 2024.

But, for now, UK passengers still have to nervously wait in line to have their bags checked.

Luckily, it seems there is a simple trick that could shave some time off your time spent in line.

TikTok creator Nicole Jaques recently shared a video with her best airport hacks.

She claims that you should always turn left when going to join an airport security queue.

The mum said: “Most people are right handed and naturally go to right lanes.

“[Usually] if I go to the farthest left lane no one is there or fewer people are at least for customs and security.”

So, if you head left you might join the shortest queue.

It’s not the first time it has been suggested that left-side queues are shorter than right-side ones.

Last week, a Disney VIP guide shared a number of secrets with the Daily Star – including turning left at queues if you're looking to cut down your wait times at the likes of Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

This applies when you’re queuing up for a ride and there are two ways to enter the line as, apparently, most people automatically stick to the right so the left hand lane is usually a little bit shorter.
