Spain holidays: British tourists spend an average of £106 per day but less than Germans

Over three million international tourists visited Spain in November 2021. The Instituto Nacional de Estadística looked at their average spending.

British tourists spent an average of 127 euros (£106) per day on a Spanish holiday in November.

That was slightly less than German tourists who spent 135 euros (£112) per day holidaying in Spain.

Italian tourists also outspent Britons in November at 132 euros (£110) per day on a Spanish holiday.

However, Britons spent more than French tourists who spent just 101 euros (£84) per day on a holiday.

Benidorm offers Britons good value for money with the price of a burger at the resort’s best rated restaurant on Tripadvisor under £10.

A cheeseburger at Tepuy Burger in Benidorm costs just £7.94 while a pint of San Miguel is just £2.92.

Britons are likely to see higher prices on the popular Balearic islands where accommodation can be very expensive.

Tourists who are happy to travel outside the peak school holiday periods will find the best offers for Spain.

Holidays across the EU, including in Spain, are set to become more expensive in 2022 as new laws take impact.

The EU is introducing the ETIAS system which will require all non-EU citizens to pay a fee to enter the bloc.

Although the system is still under development, it could be completed by the end of this year.

It is expected to cost around £5.86 every three years and will apply to all British tourists over the age of 18.

Since the UK left the EU, British holidaymakers may no longer be able to access free mobile phone roaming in the bloc depending on their network.

Vodafone and EE are expected to reintroduce charges at some point in 2022 and it is likely to cost around £2 per day.

During November, Spanish holidays were popular with British tourists who visited for winter sun.

Despite surging Covid cases in Spain, thousands of British tourists travelled to Benidorm in November to take part in the annual Fancy Dress Party.

Britons flocked to the Costa Blanca resort in wacky outfits to celebrate with street parties and drinking.

Although the official event was cancelled, many British tourists held their own celebrations in Benidorm.

As the UK relaxes travel restrictions, many major holiday providers are offering great deals for summer package holidays in Spain.

British tourists will need to be fully vaccinated to travel to Spain and must be able to present proof.
