Mum shouts at passenger for watching in-flight film that terrified her son

A mother has been slammed after she shouted at a fellow plane passenger – because they watched an in-flight film that terrified her little boy.

The bemused traveller insists that he did nothing wrong, and took to Reddit to get the internet's verdict on whether he had made a mistake.

He explained that he'd picked to watch Deadpool 2 on a flight, which he downloaded on his phone in a bid to keep the film as discreet as possible because it's an R-rated film (in the UK it has a 15 age rating).

The 19-year-old was on a flight home to see his parents when the incident occurred, the Mirror reports.

"I had a few movies downloaded on my phone, including the second Deadpool," the man explained in a post.

"I was watching it on my phone with headphones in, when the part where Deadpool gets ripped in half happens, and I can hear a (muffled) scream behind me.

"I take out my headphones and there's a little kid behind me, crying. He had positioned himself in a way that he could watch my screen and had watched him get torn."

The distressed boy's mum realised what was happening – and told the traveller off for having the film on in the first place.

"His mum got mad at me and yelled that I shouldn't be watching that kind of thing, especially in front of children," the Reddit poster continued.

"But I wasn't aware anyone was watching me, and that kid would have had to force himself into that weird position to see my phone screen."

People have been quick to jump to his defence.

The post sparked a debate about whether you're responsible for other people's children when on flights, and the etiquette of inflight film watching.

"She should've watched her own kid," one person said of the child's mother. "She was happy he was occupied until it backfired and decided to shift the blame."

Another person argued the teenager shouldn't be blamed for bringing his own racy film onboard, arguing: "The airlines have R rated movies in their entertainment wi-fi setup so they must expect folks to watch them. Even so, that poor kid!"

A third wrote: "The mum is in a public setting, it's her responsibility to watch her child. It's troubling that she didn't notice her kid was watching your movie."

Another commenter wrote: "The only scenario where she's not a total AH is if it was a late night flight or they've has this kind of connection, and she fell asleep before she noticed what her kid was doing. Even then, she shouldn't have yelled.

"If she was awake, then I have no excuse for her."
