It’s been all go for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry this week with the pair flying from California to the UK for the One Young World Summit in Manchester on Monday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made an appearance at an Invictus Games event in Germany on Tuesday, and they are expected to visit London on Thursday for the WellChild Awards. Previously, Meghan has shared her tricks for easy travelling with her fans, so here are four of the Duchess’ top tips.

Meghan’s aeroplane cleaning routine

Passengers disembark and embark on aircraft every day, so some may have concerns about how clean their seating area is when they begin their journey.

So Meghan recommended bringing some inexpensive and compact cleaning items with you to get your part of the aircraft spick and span.

Meghan wrote on her now-closed lifestyle blog, The Tig: “I’m no germophobe, but when I get on a plane I always use some quick hand wipes or a travel sanitiser spray to wipe it all down.

“That includes the little TV, the service tray, and all the buttons around your seat.

“Sure, the person next to you may give you a side eye, but at the end of the flight, you’ll be the one whistling Dixie with nary a sniffle.”

The importance of keeping hydrated

Due to the low humidity levels in aeroplane cabins, many notice that their nose, throat or skin may feel dry at high altitudes.

To combat this, keeping hydrated by drinking plenty of water is key and something Meghan swears by.

Meghan once wrote on her blog: “Always travel with a high strain probiotic, and hydrate like you’re dying of thirst – because even if you’re not, for your body – the thirst is real.”

A simple trick to avoid jet lag

Jet lag seems almost unavoidable when flying long distances, but Meghan uses a friend’s tip to avoid it – and it relates to her meal schedule.

Meghan previously wrote on her blog: “My gal pal and designer extraordinaire, Misha Nonoo, once told me that if you eat on the schedule of wherever you’ve landed, you won’t feel jet lagged.

“By simply eating a meal at the time the locals are when you land, you trick your brain a bit and stay much more on track, and much less cranky.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s go-to natural remedy

Meghan Markle is a huge fan of tea tree oil when she is travelling, a natural product that can be easily obtained in pharmacies.

Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand wrote in the book ‘Finding Freedom’: “[Meghan] has always taken pride in being a great packer, going as far as layering dryer sheets in-between her clothes to keep them smelling fresh and, no matter her destination, always bringing tea-tree oil for bites, cuts, and pimples.”

Meghan also spoke personally of her love of tea tree oil during an interview with Allure in 2014. She said: “The one thing that I cannot live without when I’m travelling is a small container of tea tree oil.

“It’s not the most glamorous thing, but if you get a cut, a mosquito bite, a small breakout, no matter what it is, it’s my little cure-all.

“It’s inexpensive, it’s small enough to carry on, and I bring it with me all the time.”
