There are so many gorgeous places to choose from, but for complete peace and quiet Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa should be on your agenda.
Situated in the middle of North Wales, Lake Vyrnwy and its stunning surroundings are part of a National Nature Reserve, as well as a Special Area of Conservation.
The four-star hotel has panoramic views of the lake, wooded hillsides and that iconic fairytale tower, in fact you can overlook it at dinner, from your bedroom window and from the Elemis spa.
We’ve actually never visited a spa with waterside views like it. Customers can sit in the jacuzzi spa pool while overlooking the sparkling lake, and if it’s nice out you can swaddle yourself in a dressing gown and enjoy the views and the Welsh air from the spa’s outside balcony.
Raining? Fear not, the spa has Tepidarium Couches – heated loungers – that also overlook the views.
Both the jacuzzi spa pool and the Tepidarium Couches are in the Thermal Suite, designed to encourage relaxation and cell renewal, as well as stimulate circulation.
The idea is to journey through different temperatures for a whole body experience, customers start by blending between the cold and warm water showers before using the steam room for its healing properties.
The salt steam and infusion of Eucalyptus is created to relieve aches and pains of daily life.
After that, the sauna – which also has stunning lake views – will help rid of toxins, while the Ice Fountain will aid total body invigoration.
And for those looking for even more of an escape the Elemis spa also offers Spa Days so you can pamper, indulge and rejuvenate.
Vryrnwy Classic, Spa indulgence, Couples Retreat and the Signature Spa Day are all on offer, while some deals offer two treatments and a half day in the Thermal Suite, other packages offer afternoon tea or a light lunch followed by an Arabian Rasul mud treatment for two.

We enjoyed the Muscle Reviver massage, and it did exactly what it said on the tin.
The 50 minute treatment was described on the website as the following: “This deeply soothing back, face and stress releasing scalp massage is an ideal way to melt away tension and relieve tight muscles.
“You will feel revived and invigorated for the day ahead or calmed and relaxed for a peaceful night’s sleep.”
It’s important to note that the Thermal Suite only caters for 12 people at a time, offering you complete exclusivity.
And this translates to the surrounding areas, as a 12 mile bike ride around Lake Vrynwy proved to be another stress buster. Home to pheasants, birds of prey and squirrels, we passed less than five cars on our two hour journey as we took in the breathtaking views and the beautiful nature.
