Hiker drop jaws in ‘fun’ outfits and heels she wears to climb 14,000ft mountains

In high heels and a perfectly fitting dress, Erin Ton looks evening-ready and all set to enjoy a night on the tiles with pals.

She's about to let her hair down alright – by climbing up more of Colorado's highest peaks.

The 22-year-old switched to the unconventional hiking footwear after scaling 57 of the state’s “fourteeners”.

She soared up many of the mountains over 14,000 feet over the past few years and doesn't do it like most hikers.

Erin refuses to tackle the climb in big boots and a backpack – instead opting to do it in 14ins heels.

For every climb she attempts, the fearless woman carries supplies for blisters or rubbing.

She knows it's not your every-day attire.

But the beauty says appearances can be deceiving and that anyone who thinks she is doing it to look good doesn't know her at all.

“When people ask why, it’s more like why not?” she told the Colorado Gazette.

“It doesn’t help that I’m blond, I’m female, and I’ve been told that I look like I’m 17 or 18.

“It wasn’t until I went away to college in upstate New York that I realised I had taken living in Colorado for granted."

Since 2018, Erin used breaks from school to climb mountain after mountain – and she hasn't looked back.

“Personally, it’s symbolic of how far I’ve come – from struggling so much that first time and now I’m cruising up it in heels.

“My response to anyone wanting to know why I do it would be that I’m experienced and I know what I’m doing.

“I don’t want to send a message about doing something stupid and reckless. I know what my boundaries are.”

Her high-heel climbs naturally attract a lot of attention from other hikers.

“It’s a fun, lighthearted thing,” she says.
