French MP Alexandre Holroyd, who is responsible for expats living in the UK, said France will open its borders “very soon” in a boost for Britons looking for a half-term getaway.

It comes weeks after Emmanuel Macron banned Britons from the country following a spike in Omicron cases, a decision which he has maintained despite France quickly overtaking the UK on daily coronarivus cases.

The original ruling came after a huge Brexit fallout with many speculating it was a political move from the French leader, just months before he headed for a general election. But it soon sparked an angry backlash from French tourism chiefs.

But should Britons return to France after such a snub? Will you be crossing the border?
