EasyJet, KLM investigating after planes smack into each other in Amsterdam

Two planes smacked into each other  at Amsterdam’ Schiphol Airport on Tuesday , and both airlines are investigating the same question: What happened?

“This morning, a KLM Boeing 737-800 that was ready to leave for Madrid hit another aircraft during the push-back (from) the gate,” Manel Vrijenhoek, a KLM Airlines spokesperson, told USA TODAY. “The passengers were never in danger and nobody got hurt.”

Kirsten De Haan of EasyJet also confirmed to USA TODAY that “two aircraft made contact during pushback from stand, one of which was EasyJet Flight EJU8868 from Amsterdam to London Gatwick.”

Passengers have posted about the incident on social media, though there seems to be some confusion about which plane actually struck the other. “So my @easyJet plane hits smashed into a @KLM plane at @Schipol. Guess I’m stuck here for a while,” one user wrote.
