The UK is due to leave the EU on December 31 2020, bringing with it a whole list of changes for Britons hoping to jet off to Europe. Although some of the changes may seem confusing, and will likely require forward planning, there is hope for travel next year.
Speaking exclusively with Express.co.uk, easyJet holidays’ customer director Matt Callaghan showed hope for the future of travel.
Based on data from forward bookings, it seems that even new passport and travel insurance requirements aren’t putting Britons off the idea of flying to some of their favourite hotspots.
“It is difficult to tell and things are different for different people but we are seeing consumer confidence in a post-Brexit world,” he admitted.
He added: “We have got strong bookings for next year into summer so customers are happy and we’re here for the customers for the long term.”
New travel rules mean that Britons may have to begin making preparation for their 2021 holidays now.
This is particularly true for those with passports which are set to expire.
Post-Brexit regulations mean that Britons will not be able to travel to EU counties with fewer than six months of validity on their passport.
With the passport office still powering through a backlog caused by lockdown, it means getting your passport back could take a little longer than usual.
Furthermore, passports will also have to be less than 10 years old, even if they have more than six months remaining before expiry.

Britons hoping to jet off with their furry friend in tow will also have to think ahead.
Pets must be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies.
They must then have their blood taken and sent off to an EU-approved blood testing laboratory.
Following results, travellers will then face another three months of waiting before they will be officially allowed to travel.
Holidaymakers will also likely have to fork out a little extra to ensure their travel insurance covers all manner of health measures, as the EHIC will no longer be valid from January 1, 2021.
However, the good news is that any holidaymakers who feel they are not prepared and hope to delay their holiday can do so with easyJet holidays.
“No matter what challenges we face, we are here for our customers,” said Mr Callaghan.
“Here for them for the long term and so they have confidence booking the holidays that they want and need.”
As part of its new “Protection Promise” easyJet holidays is allowing customers to amend their booking up to 28 days before travel without facing any fees.
“The changes are permanent,” said the travel boss.
“This isn’t just for bookings for the next three month or for holidays until the end of the year.
“This is a permanent change that our customers will get when they cancel an easyJet holiday and above that these booking condition changes will also apply to customers who have got existing bookings with us today.”
