Some of the services will include flights from London Stansted to Baltimore/Washington or Boston.

Low-cost airline PLAY has launched affordable flights to the US.

Tickets are already available to purchase with flights to Baltimore or Boston via Reykjavik starting at £169 one way.

To celebrate the launch, PLAY is offering a special price of £139 for those who book their trips between December 16 and 24.

The offer is available to travel between April and June 2022, and September and October 2022.

Flights to Baltimore/Washington depart from London Stansted four times a week.

There are flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

That includes one hour and 25 minutes stop in Reykjavik.

Flights to Boston will depart four times a week, with a one hour and 50 minutes stop before the connecting flight in Iceland.

PLAY chief executive Birgir Jónsson explained: “Travellers around the world are hungry to venture to new destinations and we’re proud to expand PLAY’s service to the United States, offering both American and European travellers a new way to reach iconic destinations.

“With our reliable and affordable flights, travellers can enjoy their holiday destination rather than overspending on the flight to get there.”

Airline PLAY has carried over 87,500 passengers across Europe this year.

Its on-time arrival rate stands at an impressive 96 percent.

The Icelandic carrier is one of the most affordable airlines at the moment, with its pay-for-what-you-need model.

Passengers will be able to bring a personal item which is included in the price.

Travellers can also choose to add upgrades to their trip, including carry-on luggage, checked bags, special luggage, seats with extra legroom and cancellation protection.

In November, the US eased its travel restrictions for Britons entering the country.

At the time of writing, fully vaccinated British tourists are allowed to enter the USA.

Authorities will accept NHS vaccine passports.

Before boarding a flight to the USA, however, passengers are required to show a negative COVID-19 test result.
