Some airlines allowing free changes to DR bookings

JetBlue and Delta customers who are alarmed by recent
tourist deaths in the Dominican Republic can change or cancel their flights for
free.

“The safety of our customers and crewmembers is our
first priority,” JetBlue spokesman Philip Stewart wrote in an email
Thursday. He said that the carrier is waiving change fees for individuals who
wish to rebook Dominican Republic flights. Customers who would prefer to cancel
their flights will also pay no fee and will get a credit for future travel.

Similarly, Delta has issued a waiver on travel to or from
Punta Cana through Aug. 15. Customers can change or cancel travel plans without
the usual fees. Delta said only that it is offering the waivers “due to
recent events in Punta Cana.”

At least seven Americans have died at Dominican resorts this
year.
