Denver airport has begun, what it says is the first remote parking lot bag check service at a U.S. airport.
The free service is offered at the airport’s remote Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert shuttle lots. Customers pull up to the bag drop kiosk prior to parking, where they are met by a greeter who unloads their car and checks the customers into their flights if need be. The customers then use the kiosk to check bags and pay bag fees.
The service is available for flyers on Denver’s two largest carriers, United and Southwest, as well for Delta and American passengers.
Passengers must check their bags at least 90 minutes prior to their flight; the service is offered from Saturdays through Thursdays from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Fridays from 2 a.m. until 7 p.m.
“Bag drop service in DEN’s Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert shuttle parking lots will save passengers time as they will not have to go to a check-in counter in the terminal and it eliminates the hassle of carrying luggage onto the shuttle and through the terminal,” the airport said in a prepared announcement Thursday. “Additionally, with less luggage on the shuttle, there is more space for additional passengers.”
