LISTEN: Midterm Elections, RV Travel and More on the TravelPulse Podcast

After a week off, travel expert Mark Murphy is back with an all-new episode of the TravelPulse Podcast.

This week, Murphy breaks down the midterm elections’ non-impact on the travel industry and shares his thoughts on what he believes is holding back some industry players from achieving their full potential.

“From the impact of how it affects travel, you know what? It doesn’t. At the end of the day, the travel industry goes on no matter what happens. We’re talking everything from terrorism to bad policies to tourism taxes to caravans, etc.,” said Murphy. “That’s the beauty of travel. You can literally say it’s the largest employer in the world because travel touches so many things.”

“Let’s get politics out of travel. Let’s look at opportunities in travel to raise the level of professionalism. Let’s understand that when we evaluate things that there are people in the industry that don’t want to see things improve because they see that potentially as a threat to their organization, for instance. As such, you have stagnation. We can’t have that. If you’re not moving forward, you’re dying,” he added.

Murphy also explains why the future is bright for suppliers targeting the American traveler, talks selfie safety and the potential pitfalls of taking a sleeping pill on your next flight before dishing on marijuana legalization and the future of pot tourism.

Finally, Murphy details his latest road trip adventures via his Leisure Travel Van, encourages everyone to look into RV travel and reveals how to get a steal on a cruise.
