The BVI's Bitter End Yacht Club reopens in December

The storied Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands is planning a reopening on Dec. 15 following a four-year closure due to hurricanes Irma and Maria.

The Bitter End opened in 1969 as a remote island outpost and hangout that catered to yachtsmen and sailors. Over the years it grew and has become an epic landmark in the North Sound, but it was heavily damaged in the 2017 hurricanes.

The updated resort will feature new docks and the Bitter End Village anchored by the Clubhouse restaurant, the two-story Quarterdeck Marina building, the watersports center and the Reeftiqe shop.

These will soon be joined by a kids’ activity center, a provisions market, a beach bar, an open-kitchen pizza  and wine concept and the first over-the-water bungalows in the BVI.
