Club Med opens its resort in Dominican Republic

Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda has opened near the town of Miches on the Dominican Republic’s east coast, north of Punta Cana. The all-inclusive resort is the second Club Med in the destination and the first of Club Med’s new Exclusive Collection brand to open in the Americas.

The 93-acre resort features four boutique villages. Archipelago and the Emerald Jungle are the two adults-only villages, while Caribbean Paradise is open to all travelers and Explorer Cove is designed for families. Each village offers a different environment, activities and accommodations.

“The opening of Club Med Miches marks a huge milestone in our history,” said Carolyne Doyon, president and CEO of Club Med North America.

“The resort embodies the strong trailblazing spirit at the heart of Club Med,” Doyon added. “We open our doors to travelers from all over so they can experience what first drew us to Miches: the culture, pristine beaches, lush landscapes and the welcoming spirit that abounds in the Dominican Republic.”

The resort offers a range of experiences from its signature trapeze-swinging classes to yoga in a treetop palapa. It offers mountaintop swings at the Montana Redonda, whale-watching tours in Samana Bay and day trips to the Laguna Limon nature reserve.

The 335-room resort is an hour and a half from Punta Cana on a new highway that links the two areas.
Overnight rates in early January start at $222 per adult, per night, exclusive of taxes and fees.
