Rydges announce two new regional properties

Following a strong run of new Rydges properties, Event Hospitality & Entertainment Limited (EVENT) today announced it has extended its regional hotel offering with Powerhouse Hotels joining the Rydges network. Powerhouse Hotel Tamworth and Powerhouse Armidale, currently branded as Quality Hotels, join the growing stable of Rydges properties supported by Rydges’ extensive marketing and distribution channels.

On 15 July 2019, the Tamworth property will relaunch as Powerhouse Hotel Tamworth by Rydges, while Armidale will relaunch as Powerhouse Hotel Armidale by Rydges on 31 July, 2019.  Both hotels continue to be managed by owner and hotelier Greg Maguire, and will retain the heritage of the Powerhouse properties while adding the strength of the Rydges brand, drawing on more than 30 years’ experience operating locally in Australia and New Zealand.

Greg Maguire, owner of Powerhouse Hotel Group said, “Powerhouse Hotels is an Australian owned family business and we’ve been operating in regional NSW for the past 39 years.  Over this time we’ve developed a solid reputation for being at the heart of the business community with exceptional service, quality restaurants and bars and luxurious facilities.

“The completion of a multi-million dollar upgrade, which will take our Tamworth hotel from a 4.5 star rating to a 5-star rating, was the catalyst for choosing to partner with EVENT whose brands, Rydges Hotels and Resorts, QT Hotels and Resorts and Atura Hotels are at the leading edge of Australian hospitality.

“We’re confident our Rydges partnership will deliver a local corporate sector focus, distribution strength in the global marketplace, continued innovation in our food and beverage offering, increased MICE business, strong digital strategy and authentically Australian guest experiences.”

Norman Arundel, Director of Hotels and Resorts, EVENT, said, “Partnering with Greg and the Powerhouse Hotel Group sees two Australian brands come together to harness our combined industry expertise and local knowledge in what is set to be an exciting new era for these iconic properties. Guests will continue to enjoy all they have come to love about Powerhouse Hotels, with all the additional benefits that come with Rydges hotels.

“Rydges and Powerhouse Hotels share a strong commitment to delivering world-class service and facilities, to investing in business and in people to add value to the regional community and tourism economy while always putting the needs of valued guests first.  Our team is incredibly excited about this appointment and look forward to Rydges becoming an integral part of the New England community.”

Greg Maguire continued, “At Powerhouse, we’re about satisfying the guest and making corporate and leisure travel a pleasurable experience.  Now that we are intrinsically linked with the power of the Rydges brand this provides endless opportunities for our guests into the future.  We’re very excited about this partnership.”
