Overnight tourists in Abu Dhabi, Dubai rise to 15.88m

During the first nine months of last year, overnight guests totaled 15.26 million

The total number of international tourists arriving to Dubai and Abu Dhabi rose to 15.88 million in the first nine months of the year, up from 15.26 million during the same period in 2018, according to UAE Central Bank statistics. 

According to the Central Bank’s Q3 Economic Review and Dubai Tourism data, approximatetly 56.3 percent – or 6.8 million – of tourists who arrived in Dubai between January and September 2019 stayed at the emirate’s hotels.

The number of international hotel guests in the emirate increased 8.7 percent, about 550,000 people, compared to the same time period in 2018.

In Abu Dhabi, international hotel guests rose 2.9 percent – around 106,000 people – compared to the same time period the previous year. 

Major markets for inbound tourism to Dubai recorded an increase in the arrival of international tourists during the reference period compared to 2018, wioth notable increases from the Philippines (28.5 percent), Oman (28.4 percent), China (13.7 percent), Saudi Arabia (2.4 percent), Germany (1 percent) and the United States (0.6 percent).
