Memories in the travel bubble make the greatest trips

I’m just about over my most recent trip to India. I’m pretty much “home”. Due to the intensity of what’s going on at STUBA, it was a real “travel bubble”  type experience.

You know the concept of living in a bubble – isolated from the rest of the world,  waiting to pop. It’s that dislocation from normal life  that brings new experiences into focus.

Planning to create experiences within a travel bubble is what makes for an easy to remember and talk about trip.

The travel bubble starts blowing up just before we leave;  the restlessness, the desire to get to the airport four hours ahead of time…. and the expanding continues until about day two or three when we suddenly feel “there ”. It might be a time zone, finally relaxing, becoming familiar with surroundings.

It’s inside this bubble where the real memories of travel happen. The travel bubble isolates us from all the normal things in our life. It could be a work trip where the work done is high-quality. It can be a deserted island without email which makes those sunrises and sunsets all the more interesting, because there is no distraction.

The strongest memories happen during this travel bubble period. We become our best inside the bubble.

It pops not too long after we get home, normally when we open the first bill on the kitchen table…

I spoke to a few people about this during the trip, how when they dislocated from the every day how much more vibrant and engaging their travel experience was.

Word-of-mouth still generates most travel agent business. So for a trip that is easy to talk about, it is essential that you peak the itinerary inside the bubble. Let them have a couple of days to settle and get into the experience. Don’t check them in and rushed out the next day when they are probably still jetlagged, getting used to the weather or the prices.

Give them peak experiences when they are most going to appreciate it, their perception of the trip will be better and they are most likely to come back for more.
