World’s best places for 2019 named and three UK spots have made the list

Three UK spots have been named some of the world's best places for 2019.

The University Arms Cambridge,  V&A Dundee and Macallan Distillery made the list in TIME magazine's annual ranking of attractions around the world.

The V&A Dundee was named as one of the best places to visit, the Macallan Distillery one of the best places to eat and drink, and the University Arms one of the best places to stay.

The V&A Dundee, sister to London's iconic Victoria & Albert museum, made the list thanks to its breathtaking architecture (it was designed by Kengo Kuma), stunning location and of course its fascinating exhibitions.

The accolade comes within the museum's first year, having first opened its doors to the public in Dundee in September 2018.

Boasting a breathtaking riverside location, the museum is part of a £1billion waterfront transformation and a wider 30-year project to transform the city.

Exhibits range from innovative design works to video games, with heaps of exhibitions and displays for families to explore.

Admission to the museum is free although it's worth noting that some of the exhibitions do carry a separate charge. You can find out more on the V&A Dundee website.

Considering a visit? You can find some great cheap hotels in Dundee on with prices from £39 per night.

Meanwhile foodies are going to want to add the Macallan Distillery to their bucket list if it isn't there already.

The single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Craigellachie was named one of the top 19 best places to eat and drink in the world.

Of course its breathtaking location in the Scottish Highlands and picturesque paths and buildings probably didn't hurt its ranking either.

Visitors can take fascinating tours which offer a glimpse into the history and heritage of both the whisky and the region, while the Elchies Brasserie on-site serves up some seriously mouthwatering local Scottish dishes.

You can find out more on the Macallan Distillery website.
