Ramada by Wyndham Becomes Official Accommodation Partner of New Zealand’s Baseball Team

The globally renowned Ramada® by Wyndham hotel brand has reached an agreement to be the official accommodation partner of Auckland Tuatara, New Zealand’s new baseball team and the country’s first team to play in the Australian Baseball League franchise.

Ramada by Wyndham is one of the world’s most recognised hotel brands with over 850 hotels in more than 60 countries. Guests choose Ramada to not only sample the world around them but for the brand’s passionate team members and full-service hospitality as well as functional meeting space, comfortable guest rooms, free Wi-Fi, and casual dining options. It is part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchisor and leading hotel management provider with more than 9,000 hotels across more than 80 countries.

Under the partnership, Ramada will be the preferred accommodation provider in New Zealand for the team, and the brand’s hotels – like the Ramada Suites by Wyndham Albany, Auckland North Shore – will accommodate both the local team and visiting opponents during the series played in New Zealand. Ramada branding will also appear on signage at the team’s home games and the brand will offer exclusive promotions to fans, members, players, officials and spectators.

Ben Schumacher, regional director of franchise operations, South East Asia and Pacific Rim at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said the partnership will raise the profile of both the team and the accommodation provider.

“The Auckland Tuatura team is an exciting development for baseball in New Zealand and the Ramada brand is proud to support the players, fans, and the sport. With a growing presence throughout the country, Ramada’s decision to support the team is symbolic of the entire country getting behind Auckland Tuatara and celebrating its future successes,” he said.

The Auckland Tuatura team aims to both raise the profile of and boost participation in baseball and softball in New Zealand. Currently featuring a strong backbone of representatives in the DiamondBlacks national team, the team also aims to help build the capability and depth of the national team by giving players further opportunity to play.

Ryan Flynn, general manager of Auckland Tuatura, said he was delighted to partner with Ramada.

“This partnership with one of the nation’s leading accommodation brands, means that our franchise is launching with strong corporate backing and has a firm foundation for the future,” he said.

Eight Ramada properties are currently open in New Zealand, located in Auckland, Albany, Orewa, Taipa Beach, Queenstown, Christchurch, Rotorua, and Wanaka. A further three are under construction in Auckland, Manukau, and Queenstown.
