Costa del Sol is getting a huge new £515million resort and it looks incredible

Brits heading to Costa del Sol on family holidays could soon have access to a whole host of brand new attractions!

The Spanish resort is opening a brand new €600million (approx £515million) leisure complex, and it sounds absolutely incredible.

We’re talking over 20 attractions including a wave pool and aquarium, over 25,000 sq m of gardens and parks, and even a year-round CIRCUS.

Then there will be the countless shops, restaurants and cafés where families can while away a few hours.

The complex will also include 12 neighbourhoods for visitors and locals, not to mention there are also plans to open two hotels on the site itself.

The new complex, a venture by retail giant Intu, will be located in Torremolinos and is tipped to become one of the largest leisure complexes in southern Europe.

It’s no surprise Costa del Sol was on their radar, considering the Spanish hotspot attracts around 12.4 million tourists every year.

Until now the project had been in planning stages only, but construction is expected to start soon as Intu has offered the initial £160million building contract to Dragados and Sando.

There will be efforts made to limit the impact on the environment too, with at least 20% of the building construction being made from recycled materials, while renewable energy sources will be used where possible.

The complex is also expected to have a water recycling system for irrigation of the green areas, to keep water consumption low.

The company has kept fairly tight-lipped about exactly what’s going to be on offer so far, although it did reveal it had also bought adjacent land to increase ownership by 32,000 sq m – and we can’t wait to see what they will do with it.

Currently there is no exact opening date revealed for the complex, but watch this space…
