On Saturday, Disney Parks Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek announced some exciting shows and experiences coming to the parks in 2019 and 2020.
Check out what Disney has in store for fans below:
Wonderful World of Animation
In May 2019, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will debut a new cinematic nighttime experience called the “Wonderful World of Animation.” In honor of the park’s 30th anniversary, it will use state-of-the-art projection technology and take viewers on a journey through 90 years of Disney animation beginning with Mickey Mouse.
New Mickey Mouse Experiences
Chapek shared news about the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway ride-through attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Imagineers are using technology to transform the 2-D cartoon characters into a real-world experience that will take guests through a new original Micky and Minnie story to the tune of a great theme song.
At Disneyland park, “Mickey’s Mix Magic” will light up the night sky on January 18 with music, projections, and lasers, followed by an epic dance party. This will be a part of the Get Your Ears On – A Mickey and Minnie Celebration which will feature entertainment, food, merchandise, and a Soundsational Parade at the resort with a new float of Mickey leading the celebration down Main Street U.S.A.
From January 18-September 30, there will be a Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration at Magic Kingdom Park. It will be similar to the Disneyland park celebration as it will also showcase new food, entertainment, and a dance party.
Lastly, Micky and Minnie will take to the seas on the Disney Fantasy in the summer of 2019 with a high-energy deck party.
If all this wasn’t enough for Mickey fans, Chapek also shared a sneak peek view of Mickey: The True Original Exhibition in New York City. The exhibit will provide an interactive experience to visitors and include Insta-worthy design elements and multimedia installations through February 10, 2019.
In 2019, Epcot will feature a new show, “Epcot Forever.” This limited-time experience will showcase Epcot tunes and a stunning light display.
Following that show in 2020 will be a new nighttime show that will focus on how Disney music inspires people around the world. It will include LED panels, lasers, and pyrotechnics, and moving or floating set pieces like fountains and lights.
Star Wars: Galaxy Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy Edge is set to open at Disneyland Resort in fall 2019, and now visitors have some ideas as to what to expect. Chapek shared two videos of the two major attractions, the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. The first will allow guests to man the Millennium Falcon, while the other will put visitors in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
