Walking in the surreal footsteps of the great Salvador Dali
UTracks, the active Europe specialist, has launched a new guided walk from the mountains of France to the coast of Spain which allows travellers to experience a unique region that that has inspired many artists over the centuries, including the great surrealist painter, Salvador Dali.
Led by an expert mountain guide, the itinerary allows walkers to follow in the footsteps of Dali, to experience the region through his eyes, get a sense of his life and visit the places that inspired his surrealist works.
The itinerary begins in France, crossing the foothills of the Albères, the dramatic section of the Pyrenees where the mountains gradually give way to the sea.
From here it follows well defined trails along the stunning Vermillion coast ambling past rolling hills and terraced vineyards into Spain. The walk winds through the spectacular Cap de Creus National Park, to finish in the fishing village of Cadaques where Dali spent many summer holidays. This village, with its whitewashed buildings and vivid colours, has become one of the most painted villages in the world attracting other famous artists over the years, including Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró.
A final highlight is to visit Dali’s hometown, Figuéres where the Dali museum will certainly captivate your senses and offer an at times bizarre insight into Dali’s mind.
UTracks Guided Footsteps of Dali walk includes all meals for six days, hotel accommodation, luggage transfers and entry to the Monastery Saint Pere de Rodes, Dali’s House in Portlligat and the Dali Museum at Figuéres and return transfer to Perpignan in France.
The Guided Footsteps of Dali Walk is priced from $1850 per person (twin share) with departures in July, September and October 2018.
