Taranaki to host 2019 i-SITE conference
Taranaki has been selected as the host the 2019 i-SITE Conference that will bring over 100 i-SITE owners and staff from across the country to the region for five days.
Scheduled for September 2019, the event will showcase the region’s attractions, experiences and accommodation to some of New Zealand’s most influential travel sellers.
“The i-SITE Visitor Information Network is a trusted and influential brand for visitors and locals alike,” says Paul Yeo, i-SITE Executive Manager.
“It’s very exciting that our Network will get to experience a region considered a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts as part of next year’s conference. The more our i-SITE operators know about a region and its products, the better they can sell it to visitors looking to experience more of New Zealand.”
The conference will be managed in collaboration between Tourism New Zealand’s i-SITE team and the New Plymouth, Stratford and South Taranaki i-SITE Visitor Centres.
Taranaki is home to three of the 80 i-SITE Visitor Information Centres in New Zealand. Each year, the i-SITE network welcomes approximately 7.3 million visitors, generating $65 million in sales.
i-SITEs are extremely value to local communities. i-SITE Visitor Information Centres inspire visitors to spend locally, with every $1 spent at an i-SITE contributing to around $1.50 of additional spend at cafes, shops, attractions and accommodation.
i-SITE Visitor Information Centres also have a critical role to play in looking after the safety and wellbeing of visitors and the communities they operate in, equipped with the latest information on local regulations, guidance and touring routes.
