What did you do before you joined MTA? I worked in a retail office.
When and why did you join MTA? Joined May 2017. I felt I was no longer growing in my old role and wanted to take charge of my own destiny and live by my own rules.
What do you like most about working as an MTA Member? The flexibility and meeting other MTA members.
Do you have a specialised area in travel? Cruising.
What’s one of your biggest personal achievements? Surviving 25 years in the travel industry! Seriously, choosing the right person to marry.
What’s the biggest thing you’ve learnt since starting as a home-based travel agent? Self-belief! It’s a massive leap of faith to join MTA but a worthwhile one.
What sets MTA apart from the rest? Head office support and the interaction with other MTA members. I had some close friends who had been members for years and they have been instrumental in helping me settle in.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given and who gave it? ‘Believe in yourself’ from many friends.
Who do you admire and see as a role model in the industry? Everyone who has been around as long as I have.
What destinations are next on your travel bucket list? Scotland – hopefully in 2018!
What’s the most memorable travel experience you’ve had (good or bad)? Sailing through Bora Bora with my husband on the Paul Gauguin with a glass of French champers in hand. Unforgettable.
What three things do you always take with you when travelling? Passport, Phone, all my international adapter plugs.
Which famous person would you most like to travel with and where to? George Clooney – to anywhere.
What do you find yourself doing on your weekends? Relaxing and chatting to neighbours about their next trip!
What direction do you see the industry heading in over the next five to ten years? I think OTAs will continue to try and dominate our industry. That said, there will always be a demand for personalised service in travel and that’s where MTA stands alone.
