Spicers Retreats is delighted to announce the appointment of experienced hospitality management professional Martin Hamilton as general manager of the award-winning Spicers Peak Lodge in Queensland.

Mr Hamilton has an impressive record of management in the luxury sector and comes to the role from the prestigious New Zealand property The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs where he was Lodge Manager for more than two-and-half years.

Co-founder of Spicers Retreats, Jude Turner, said: “Martin has worked for some of the world’s best boutique and independent properties like Malmaison (UK), Turnberry (Scotland), Millbrook (New Zealand) and Kauri Cliffs.

“We are delighted to have him on board and expect him to bring his passion for exceeding guest expectations to this new role with Spicers.”

Mr Hamilton, who studied at Edith Cowan University in Perth, said he was looking forward to the challenge and to returning to Australia.

“I left Australia in 2002 and spent seven years in the UK most notably at Turnberry in Ayrshire, Scotland. I adopted New Zealand as my new home in 2009 working at Millbrook in Queenstown before before joining Kauri Cliffs in 2017,” Mr Hamilton said.

“I enjoy the uniquely personal nature of lodges. It enables us as staff to really get to know our guests and in doing so, create authentic and memorable experiences based around the property.

“Spicers Peak Lodge is one of Australia’s finest properties and I’m looking forward to delivering the relaxed luxury that is at the heart of the Spicers offering.”
