Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea: Jordan’s deluxe spa destination

One of the most glamorous hotel in the Middle East, the impressive Kempinski Hotel Ishtar is the perfect place to partake of the famously curative waters of The Dead Sea. Brimming with minerals and salts, the sea water has been sought for millennia in treatment for skin conditions, ailing joints, and peace of mind. The Dead Sea is 400 metres below sea level; the air is highly oxygenated here, another factor contributing to visitors’ wellbeing.

Stylish accommodation with water views

Not that a medical condition is necessary to enjoy this superb resort. Spacious rooms, suites, and private villas spilling down the resort’s hillside location provide an array of room categories to suit travellers’ needs. The main building sits at the highest point, while the private villas are located closer to the water’s edge. No less than nine swimming pools can be found on the expansive grounds which serve as a meticulously manicured vantage point for watching a golden sunset across the sea. Culinary treats await in the restaurants, all of them with dramatic views. The waterfront Ashur restaurant is the place to find excellent Italian dishes served by a convivial staff eager to ensure a happy dining experience.

Kempinski Ishtar Resense Spa-Dead Sea saltwater pool

It is the spa, though, that attracts the most attention at Kempinski Ishtar. A small saltwater pool off to the side of the spa’s main pool gives a gentle introduction to the salinity of the Dead Sea, the source of the salt and mud used in treatments in the award-winning Resense Spa which, at more than 10,000 square metres, is the largest spa in the Middle East. Itself the size of a hotel, the Resense Spa has 20 treatment rooms as well as multiple relaxation areas. The De-Stress treatment is two hours of bliss, beginning with a salt scrub that is followed by a Dead Sea mud wrap and a massage to relax the muscles. The extensive spa menu offers an enticing variety of facials, massages, and body treatments.

In the vicinity of Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea are several easy outings to explore this unique region of the world. The historic town of Madaba, with its archaeological museum and famous mosaic in St George Church, is just a bit further along from Mount Nebo, from which there are spectacular views of the Dead Sea. Both these sights are located between Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea and Queen Alia International Airport, about an hour’s drive from the resort. Also in the vicinity of Kempinski Ishtar is the Dead Sea Panoramic Complex. Aside from the excellent views from this lofty location, the Panoramic Complex also has a very interesting museum explaining the geological, anthropological, and cultural history of the area.
