Hilton Dili Palm Springs executive announcement

Hilton Dili Palm Springs today announced the appointment of key leadership positions in the lead-up to its opening in the third quarter of this year.

“The upcoming opening of Hilton Dili Palm Springs is highly anticipated as it will represent the entry of Hilton into the market as well as the first internationally branded hotel in Timor-Leste. It’s absolutely critical that we have the right people in place to lead the hotel from opening through to operations and we are delighted to now be in a position to announce the core leadership team at the hotel that will set us up for success,” said Andre Gomez – Regional General Manager for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Hilton.

General Manager: Ryan Mikkelson

A 24-year hospitality veteran, Ryan began his career with Hilton in Auckland in 2004 and held various roles across the Operations and Business Development functions. In 2010, Ryan took on the role of Director of Business Development for Hilton Auckland and Hilton Lake Taupo, following which he was appointed Hotel Manager at Hilton Lake Taupo three years later. He then moved to the Northern Territory in Australia as Cluster Commercial Director overseeing four Hilton and DoubleTree properties, before relocating to Timor-Leste to take on the role of General Manager for Hilton Dili Palm Springs in October 2018.

In his role, Ryan is responsible for leading and developing the team of 160 team members and is also responsible for driving business performance of the hotel upon its opening.

Executive Chef: Esteban Gomes

Esteban Gomes joins the team as Executive Chef with more than nine years of international culinary experiences, most recently at Hilton Dubai Jumeirah as Head Chef after holding several roles in Dubai, New York and his home country of Chile.

Esteban will oversee all culinary aspects of Hilton Dili Palm Springs from menu creation for the hotel’s four distinctive dining venues, banquet menus to cater for the eight dedicated meeting and events spaces, in-room dining and Executive lounge. Esteban along with his kitchen team will work with local producers to incorporate local flavours and ingredients into the hotel’s menus whilst also featuring international offerings.

Commercial Manager: Louise Kitchingham

Louise Kitchingham oversees the commercial operations for the hotel as the Commercial Manager. In her role, Louise will focus on developing and implementing the commercial strategy for the hotel including, creating revenue generation strategies for all market segments. The role will also include supporting the commercial team in sales, marketing, catering & events, ecommerce, public relations and reservations.

Louise joined the team after spending the last 15 years in Darwin, Australia in various tourism and hospitality roles, most recently at Tourism NT working within the business events team.

Human Resources Manager: Aziza Fazrina

Aziza Fazrina leads the recruitment, training, talent and culture development for the hotel. Aziza joined the team with nine years of previous experience in Human Resources, most recently at Hilton Garden Inn Bali Ngurah Rai Airport where she implemented the HR strategy for the hotel ensuring team members were equipped and focused to ensure delivery of the hotels strategic goals and revenue targets were achieved.
