Hawaiian Airlines celebrates five years of service to New Zealand

Hawaiian Airlines, the only U.S. carrier to serve New Zealand with nonstop flights to Hawai‘i, is celebrating its fifth anniversary on the Auckland-Honolulu route with an increase in flights commencing this month. The airline will expand its schedule between Auckland to Honolulu from three to five services weekly commencing 21 March, 2018.

Hawaiian Airlines President and Chief Executive Officer Peter Ingram said the airline built a strong affinity with New Zealand as an important market in the carrier’s growing global network.
“We are very pleased with the demand we’ve experienced since Hawaiian Airlines commenced flying to New Zealand five years ago this month. We have a great team in New Zealand, enjoy strong industry relationships and have carried more than a quarter million (270,000) guests between Auckland and Honolulu since launch on March 13, 2013,” he said.

“We are now expanding as a natural progression of our strategy for New Zealand.

“In January, we also launched our interline agreement working with Jetstar to make it easier for travelers from Christchurch, Wellington and throughout the region to join our flights to Honolulu from our Auckland gateway,” he added.

Russell Williss, Hawaiian Airlines New Zealand Country Director, said demand for Hawai’i holidays continues to grow.

“Hawai‘i is a hugely popular destination for Kiwis, including many repeat visitors. Last year nearly onethird of our New Zealand guests visited an island other than O‘ahu as their final destination,” he said.

“We are also finding that an increasing number of our Kiwi guests are now travelling further with us – beyond Hawai‘i to the US mainland,“ he said.

“For those with the West Coast as their final destination, Los Angeles is most popular, followed by the Bay Area, New York City (JFK), Seattle and Las Vegas. This tells us our Kiwi guests value the flexibility and convenience of our network,” he said.

Mr. Williss said the carrier offers Kiwis a unique value proposition, combining the airline’s much acclaimed Hawaiian hospitality with a range of traveller benefits.
“Hawaiian Airlines offers affordable all-inclusive fares, industry leading baggage allowance and a convenient network of flights between the Hawaiian Islands and beyond Hawai‘i now to 12 North
America cities.

“But most importantly, our people and their warm Hawaiian hospitality is what makes traveling to Hawai‘i on Hawaiian a unique and memorable experience,” he added.
