On Friday 2 November, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort will play host to an iconic moment in Australian wine history when prestigious Henschke Wines celebrates its 150 year anniversary with a wine dinner at the Resort’s award-winning restaurant The Fireplace.

Henschke Wines has named InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort the venue for the region’s exclusive celebration of their sesquicentennial year following The Fireplace’s two glass win in Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards for the third year in a row. The evening will take a chapter out of The Fireplace’s 300-strong wine library and journey guests behind one of Australia’s most acclaimed cellar doors.

Led by a Henschke Wine ambassador, guests will enjoy three courses paired with handpicked drops selected for their flavour-enhancing notes. Showcasing especially for the evening, diners will experience the wine house’s exclusive anniversary edition of Henschke Wheelwright Shiraz. Derived from Old-Vine Shiraz planted over a decade ago, its velvety tannins, plum notes and dark crimson hues will be the highlight of the evening and the perfect toast to Henschke’s 150-year legacy.

On the culinary front, Executive Chef Matt Hart has devised a menu that elevates Henschke’s imaginative spirit and shares the best of The Fireplace’s wood-fire kitchen. Ensuring each flavour complements the wine journey, diners will enjoy Henschke Johanne Ida Selma Blanc de Noir teamed with a decadent duck and fig entrée, plus Henschke Peggy’s Hill Riesling met with fresh local cuttlefish and peas. The dinner will end on a sweet note with a signature surprise dessert.

Recognised as one of Australia’s iconic premium red wine producers, Henschke is a family-owned South Australian winery that has been producing highly acclaimed and ‘cult’ wines for the last century and a half.
