Chief Economist to Join AFTA Member Roadshow

Next month AFTA is conducting a series of workshops that will discuss a broad range of industry specific topics most relevant to AFTA/ATAS members in the current economic climate and operating environment. Joining the roadshow is Chief Economist Besa Deda. Below is an overview of what Besa will discuss.

The Ups, Downs and Roundabouts for Australia’s Economy in 2020

Guest Presenter: Besa Deda, Chief Economist, St George Bank

How will the Australian economy play out in 2020 and what are the implications for travel agencies, wholesalers, tour operators and the industry at large?

The Reserve Bank cut the cash rate three times last year. Are there more rate cuts in store and what does this mean for consumer confidence and travel spending?

As a chief Economist, with nearly 20 years extensive experience in the banking world and proven knowledge of financial markets, Besa will explore the following:

Economic outlook – short and long term
Interest rates and the Australian Dollar;
Potential risks and opportunities for the domestic and global economies;
Impact on the travel industry
