Korean Air Invites Employees Children for Family Day

On September 20, Korean Air hosted a ‘family day’ at its headquarters in Seoul. Approximately 1,600 employees and their children were invited to participate in a day of fun.

Korean Air said there were no limitations to the number of participants; all employees with children were welcome. Employees could take the day to introduce their workplace to their children, and participate in fun activities together. Through the event, the airline hopes to emphasize the values of balancing work and family.

On the day, children joined hands with their parents and came to work with them. They sat at their parents’ desks, met their colleagues, and learned about their jobs.

At the same time, the maintenance hangar at the headquarters was transformed into a theme park. Various ‘fun booths’ were in operation, including a tour of a Boeing 787-9, air bounce, craft classes, face painting, mini Olympics, a family photo studio and snack corners.

Korean Air organized the event to encourage communication and understanding between children and their parents, and enhance a sense of belonging among its employees. The airline plans to expand the ‘family day’ to other subsidiaries in Hanjin Group.

“We believe that happier employees are more productive, so we are developing various family-friendly policies and programs,” said a representative from Korean Air. “We will make ongoing efforts to firmly establish a family-friendly work environment.”
