Raising automatic gratuities for cruise passengers has become the norm in the industry recently, and Princess Cruises is the latest company to get in on the changes.
According to CruiseCritic.com, all Princess customers sailing on or after May 21 will be subjected to an increase of $1 on their daily per-person rates. Travelers who have paid or will pay their gratuities in full before May 14 will not be impacted.
For travelers who book standard cabins, they will now be charged $14.50 per person, per day. Passengers in mini suites will pay $15.50 and the price for full suites will increase to $16.50.
Officials from Princess reportedly sent an email to customers outlining the new gratuity rates.
“The increase underscores our commitment to reward our crew for the excellent service provided to our guests,” a Princess spokesperson told CruiseCritic.com.
Princess raised its automatic gratuities for the first time since 2016, joining the likes of other cruise lines who recently made similar changes, including Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line and Norwegian Cruise Line.
