Both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are big fans of the Wimbledon tennis tournament. While royal fans have already gotten a glimpse of both women at the event separately, it appears we’ll finally get to see them in the stands together this weekend.
On Friday morning, Kensington Palace announced on Twitter, “The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, and The Duchess of Sussex will attend the Ladies' Singles Final at The Championships, Wimbledon on Saturday 13th July.”
The duo’s joint official appearance will be a rare one, coming exactly a year after they showed up to Wimbledon together.
The double-duchess appearance will also come after Meghan found herself in a bit of hot water over her alleged Wimbledon behavior.
Fans of the royals blasted Meghan on social media for reportedly banning anyone from taking her photograph at the event. Though palace officials declined to comment a source told The Daily Mail, “It's not uncommon for personal protection officers accompanying any members of the Royal Family to ask people not to take pictures so they can engage with people and events rather than camera phones.”
However, it’s likely at this weekend’s events Meghan will let all the drama go as she’ll be there to cheer on her good friend, Serena Williams, alongside her sister-in-law.
This also won’t be the last royal appearance at Wimbledon. As Kensington Palace also shared, “The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, and The Duke of Cambridge will attend the Gentlemen's Singles Final of The Championships, Wimbledon on Sunday 14th July.”
In case you don’t understand royal-tweet speak, Will and Kate will be back for the match on Sunday.
