ASTA seeks Entrepreneur of the Year submissions

ASTA is accepting applications to compete in its annual
Entrepreneur of the Year competition through June 30.

The competition, which is reminiscent of the show “Shark
Tank,” will be held at the ASTA Global Convention in Fort Lauderdale. The
grand prize is $10,000.

The winner will be chosen from three finalists. The award is
sponsored by the Dan and Gloria Bohan Foundation.

ASTA’s keynote speaker and the founder of Zuckerberg Media,
Randi Zuckerberg, will guest judge the competition along with industry judges.

Applicants can apply online
through the end of June by providing a description of their idea, a short video
and confirmation that they can attend the convention. A selection committee of
industry professionals will review the submissions, and the top three will move
on to compete at the convention.

Each finalist has five minutes to pitch their idea to a
panel of judges and the audience. The judges can ask questions after the pitch.
Each gets one vote, as does the audience.

Last year, the grand prize went to Patricia Hager,
an agent who pitched Senior Travel Buddy — a service that connects local
seniors with similar interests looking for travel buddies.

ASTA’s convention
will be held Aug. 25-27.
