Universal Orlando reveals details about Hagrid roller coaster headed to Harry Potter world

Magic is brewing at Universal Orlando.

A new roller coaster ride — Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure — kicks off June 13 at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure.

Sporting a man bun, actor Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, revealed some news about it Tuesday morning on Universal Orlando’s site.

“It’s a place full of mystery, adventure and magical creatures,” 31-year-old Felton said of the Dark Forest, the setting for Hagrid’s ride.

Art director Alan Gilmore helped curate the experience, bringing to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter the same magic from the set of the films.

In September, Universal Orlando Resort said it wouldn’t hold its annual celebration of all things Harry Potter, which normally takes place end of January, because of the motorbike adventures construction.

“You can’t have an adventure with Hagrid through the Forbidden Forest without a forest so we planted more than 1,000 live trees to bring this fantastical forest to life,” said Gilmore. “You’ll twist, turn and rush forward and backward at speeds up to 50 mph. It’s really fast.”

“Your motorbike will fly deep into the wilds of the Forbidden Forest, taking you on a twisting, roller coaster ride to discover the rarest magical creatures.

At least one magical creature seen in a Universal Orlando teaser? The centaurs of the Forbidden Forest.
